Default Newbie looking for advice

Hi all,

I am quite new to GWs and am a part time gamer so am trying not to get bogged down with game mechanics and spending massive amounts of time analysing builds as otherwise I'd never get to enjoy the game. So I was hoping if I post what I am playing with you guys could give me some simple feedback and let me know if I'm on the right track.

My toon is a W/N currently lvl 12

Swordmanship 8 +1 +1
Strength 7 +1

Enraging Charge
For Great Justice
Flail
Sever Artery
Gash
Dragon Slash
Lions Comfort
Res Sig

Seems to work fine although I'm currently at Lions Arch and will be facing undead for the next few missions I guess so whats a good replacement for sever/gash?

I also just went to EotN and got my first three heros. I've set them up as below:

Gwen Me/A

Fast Casting 7
Domination Magic 12
Inspiration Magic 9
Deadly Arts 6

Power Spike
Energy Burn
Spiritual Pain
Empathy
Shatter Enchantment
Assassins Promise
Power Drain
Ether Feast

Vekk E/Mes

Inspiration Magic 10
Fire Magic 12
Energy Storage 8

Glyph of Lesser Energy
Searing Flames
Glowing Gaze
Power Drain
Leech Signet
Fire Attunement
Channeling
Res Sig

Ogden Stonehealer Mo/Mes

Inspiration Magic 6
Healing Prayers 12
Smiting Prayers 2
Divie Favor 11

Glimmer of Light
Healing Whisper
Dwaynas Kiss
Orision of Healing
Leech Signet
Power Drain
Smite Hex
Res

These were just random builds I found online and as I've only played a warrior I'm clueless as to if there any good so any advice would be greatly recieved.

Look forward to hearing your opinions and ideas

Thanks for helping a newbie!!

P.S. was also wondering do I need to bother with henchies if I got heroes or should I always go out with max party size?

Short Answer: pvx.wikia.com

The builds there can really help you get on your feet, but since you won't have a lot of skills you'll be restricted in what you can run.

-Always go out with max party size

Long Answer:

For undead, switch to an axe or hammer build. Here are two good options:

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:W/any_Enduring_Axe
:: OQASEZJT2FCFKF7gRFAA8VxgA

http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:W/any_PvE_Earth_Shaker
:: OQASE5JTiFYf7ghF8VGWAAxgA

Hammer is great because spamming an aoe KD is pretty gangsta for both owning enemies and mitigating damage. The tradeoff is that you can't equip a hammer and a shield at the same time, so you take about 10-20% more damage.

Axe is great because you get deep wound without the need for bleeding (something that more dangerous types of undead won't do). It lacks the damage mitigation of hammer's KDs, but you yourself will have an easier time because you'll have a shield.

Without knowing what skills you have available it'd be difficult to make a more complete suggestion on what your builds should be. The best suggestion I can give is to look at what is and isn't going well for your team and attempt to tweak the bars slightly to handle it better.

edit:

Your mesmer is the only bar that needs some real work, it's far too heavy on interrupts to really work well in general pve. There are two pretty reasonable elites to build your mesmer around in this sort of situation:

Panic and Psychic Instability

Since you're on a physical main in an undead heavy area, I'd suggest using this variant ( OQNTA0B64JEiXdJU/8BAY5nBA ) with Strength of Honor for the optional. It'll give you some much needed additional oomph in a zone that can be rather rough.

I'm good on the skills front, I bought all the skill packs. I know its cheating a little bit but I don't have massive amounts of time to play and would of taken me forever otherwise lol

In that case, this game is going to basically be about playing with the cards and building decks for you, rather than the collecting aspect. I'd encourage you to spend a few minutes before each mission just considering what and why you're using, and how you can do it more efficiently. PVX is the STL of Guild Wars but the real enjoyment, as always, comes from thinking up your own solutions to the challenges posed.

Drop Channeling from your Ele for Aura of Restoration. If your attunement gets stripped that build is toast.

Inspiration Magic 9
Healing Prayers 12 --> 12+1+1
Smiting Prayers 2 --> 0
Protection Prayers 0 --> 5+1
Divine Favor 11 --> 8+1

Monk build needs serious work since Glimmer is a bad elite. Heros are terrible at energy management and will spam on recharge more or less

Glimmer of Light --> WoH is more powerful when condition is met and won't be spammed
Healing Whisper --> half range, switch to Patient Spirit
Dwaynas Kiss
Orision of Healing --> really bad, put in condition removal instead
Leech Signet --> heros don't use this well, Waste Not Want not is a better choice
Power Drain
Smite Hex --> cure hex, which has a hefty heal

It's 32% more damage, plus more depending on shield mods.
